One guy's opinion.
Wednesday - September 21, 2005

Before I get into last night's game and today's Rangers news, I want to point out something that greatly bothered me.

This is supposed to be the new 'fan-friendly' NHL. We fans have waited over 16 months for a hockey fix, after enduring the only season-canceling labor dispute in the history of professional sports. That being said, the Rangers' self-coverage of training camp and the pre-season has been absolutely horrendous. The final straw for me came yesterday when I went to look for some game notes. On the Rangers webpage, the only game notes I found were for the last regular season game of the 2003-04 season against the Caps. Additionally, the Rangers were one of the few teams to have their entire training camp closed to the public.

Hey Cablevision......you want the fans to come back to the game, how about bringing some of the game back to the fans. The Rangers are supposed to be one of the premier franchises in the NHL, despite their abysmal failures over the last seven seasons. How about some better coverage on your website? Is it too much to ask to post some game notes with players' numbers so we can identify the players, most of whom we have not seen before?

I find this to be disgraceful. If you feel the same way, I encourage you to call the Rangers' public relations department and voice your complaints.

I know I am probably too worked up, as it really is only the pre-season, but we have waited a long time for this, and I was expecting more.
