Boot Camp, Day 3
Friday - September 23, 2005

The Rangers will be finishing their boot camp training that they have participated in over the last couple of days. Hopefully, the exercises helped them to bond enough to create that 'team' feeling in the locker room. Of course, I hope they bonded with the right players, as there are still about 15 or 16 cuts still to be made.

Newsday: Steve Zipay writes that even with their diverse backgrounds, all of the Rangers now have a greater appreciation for the life of an American soldier.

The Star Ledger: Colin Stephenson reports that the Rangers were focusing on special teams play, as they will become increasingly important with the number of penalties the referees have been calling.

The Journal News: Andrew Gross talks about who may be candidates for the captaincy of the Rangers. The team will have three different alternate captains for Sunday's game against the Bruins.

There are a bunch of pictures and articles on the Rangers three days at West Point on the Army sports website.

The Hockey Rodent discusses the news that the Czech Republic ratified the IIHF's player transfer agreement with the NHL.

Bird feels disconnected from the NY hockey scene, both literally and figuratively. He talks about it in the newest Birdcage.

The annoying lady who protested the golf Masters tournament because the host course, Augusta National, does not allow women members is now after the NHL. Martha Burke says that the NHL's new ad campaign, "My NHL" is offensive to women. She said that the woman in the ad was dressed provocatively. If this is the case, as a male I can unequivocally tell you that Ms. Burke has NO IDEA what is provocative.
