Statements
Tuesday - October 18, 2005
So far, we have received statements from both OLN and Cablevision. We are still awaiting comments from the Rangers and the NHL.
"OLN, and its parent company Comcast, are electronically blocking NHL games we are entitled to receive under our current agreement to carry the network. We call upon them to honor their obligations and return these games to hockey fans immediately." And as I posted earlier, OLN: "Hockey is a great sport and we believe that all fans should be able to enjoy this season's coverage. Traditionally the NHL, like all major professional sports, has been broadly distributed on a basic tier. We believe that hockey fans deserve the right to watch hockey the way they watch all other major professional sports. Cablevision is trying to limit hockey games to 22,000 customers, and denying more than 99% of its customers access to these games; we're fighting to bring the games to 3 million New York fans." We thank the respective representatives for getting back to us so promptly. Posted by Jim at October 18, 2005 06:25 PMeMail this entry! |
