Weekes out, Henrik In
Saturday - October 22, 2005

Apparently, Kevin Weekes needed another week of healing time before being able to start a game.

Coach Tom Renney told Henrik Lundqvist that he would be starting tonight against the Buffalo Sabres. Weekes had a rough time against the Islanders on Thursday, and now claims his injured groin was bothering him as the game went on. Too bad he didn't mention that before he gave up the 4th and 5th goals.

Anyway, that is basically the story in all of the newspapers: the Post, the Star Ledger, the Journal News, and Newsday.

I also noticed in the Journal News that Renney was contemplating benching a defenseman so that Jason Strudwick could get some time in. It looks like it might be Tom Poti:

"But Poti, who was a healthy scratch for the first time since his rookie year in the season's third game, was paired with the suspended Dale Purinton yesterday while Strudwick skated with rookie Fedor Tyutin, Poti's partner the last five games.

'I don't know, I'll just show up (today) and see what happens," said Poti, who was particularly strong in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Islanders Wednesday. "But it doesn't look good.'"

To be fair, Poti was not great on Thursday, but I thought some of the other defensemen were far worse, especially Fedor Tyutin. Poti also had a fantastic game Wednesday against the Islanders, and really probably shouldn't be the one to get scratched.

Game time is tonight at 7:30 pm, EST.

The Hartford Wolf Pack lost in overtime last night to the Springfield Falcons. Penalties cost the Pack this game, as they allowed the Falcons twelve power play chances, including a 5-on-3 in overtime on which the Falcons scored the game winner. Dave Liffiton, Fedor Fedorov, and Alexandre Giroux each scored for the Pack, while Thomas Pöck had 2 assists. Has anyone seen Hugh Jessiman? In four games, he has no points and only two penalty minutes.

The Pack face off against the Hershey Grizzlies tonight. Game time is 7:00 pm EST.

Now get this right......Pack at SEVEN, Rangers at SEVEN THIRTY. I don't want to get any nasty emails from anyone who messed up their TiVo.
