Jagr Hurt In Olympic Game
Saturday - February 18, 2006

Jagr lays in a pool of blood after being hit by Jarkko Ruutu of Finland

Straka jumps on Ruutu, flanked by Malik - both NY Rangers

There have been several injuries to NHL players so far in this Olympic tourney but none more important to Ranger fans than the injury to Jagr sustained on a nasty hit from Vancouver Canuck, Jarrko Ruutu.

A new member to our boards posted this link so you can watch it if you missed it. I want to thank "poklu" for the link.

Kudos to Straka for his reaction to the play. My understanding is that we're not dealing with a serious injury but early reports are often wrong so we'll wait and see what tomorrow brings.

"After the game, Czech coach Alois Hadamczik said Jagr did not have a concussion and possibly could play Sunday against Italy, though he said, "It will be up to him."

In a hit that appeared designed to injure, Ruutu crushed Jagr head-first into the boards as the Czech star was playing the puck.

Team USA lost today, 2-1.

I need a beer.
