Shut Out
Sunday - March 12, 2006

The other day, Leedsy took you back to his college days. I'm going back a bit farther than that. Back in the mid to late '60s I had a small trasistor AM radio I'd hide under my pillow to listen to even though mom and dad assumed I was asleep. On Saturday nights at 8pm Les Habs would be at the Forum and many times against our NYR. I could get the French broadcasts only.

Back then there were only six teams and the Canadians were the best by far. They had all those French-Canadian names. The Rangers were getting pushed around and even though I was very young, I understood because of my dad that the arrival of the new coach, Bernie 'Boom Boom' Geoffrion would bring a more physical approach to the game. OK, things didn't work out all that well.....but it was the time in my life where I fell in love with this game, all things hockey and it's when I developed a love for Canada and it's rich hockey tradition.

I was very moved by the story of Geoffrion telling his future wife on their first date that someday his jersey would hang right next to #7 someday.

The game? Well.....I'm glad we play again today. Someone needs to light the lamp and quick. Can you say Prucha? I knew that you could. 4 consecutive one goal losses need to end now.

Game recaps from the locals....NY Post, Daily News, Newsday, NY Times.

Larry Brooks thinks the Rangers did OK on trading day.

The Post also spoke to JJ this week.

Gametime is 5pm.

I'll be back.
