Luckily, the Rangers are not blaming fatigue for their recent struggles, otherwise we should all be worried about the week ahead.

They just finished their back-to-back away games in the Sunshine State, and will play another set of roadies Wednesday and Thursday in Long Island and Ottawa, respectively. Tonight, they face another tough opponent in the Buffalo Sabres. After that, they have a nice four day weekend before facing the Flyers next Tuesday, but by then quite a bit of damage can be done.

They weren't "out" of those two shootout losses down south, but Steve Zipay wonders what happened to their success in the game-deciding event? They had won five in a row, only to lose their last three. (Steve also points out the tidbit that Tom Poti has incurred five of the team's last eleven penalties.)

NY Post: Winning the division would earn the Blueshirts a top-three seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Falling short could mean finishing fourth or fifth, depending on how the No. 4 Sabres - who arrive at the Garden tonight looking to avoid a sixth straight defeat - finish out their season.

NY Daily News: "It's tough. It's frustrating," said goalie Henrik Lundqvist, the loser in the 4-3 loss to the Lightning. All three goals against him in regulation were created by deflections, two off of his own teammates. "As a goalie, you always feel responsible." The Rangers shooters were as much to blame, if not more. They scored only once in six chances in the two shootouts, that by Peter Sykora against Florida.

Depending on who you read, Darius Kasparaitis may return tonight. No word on who starts in net.

Around the league:

Joe Thorton had six assists in less than 24 hours to move him within one point of Jaromir Jagr in the NHL scoring race.

The old Winnipeg Arena, former home to the Jets, was finally demolished yesterday.

The Devils lost again, and are moving precariously close to losing a playoff spot.

It's the Rangers and Sabres tonight in MSG. The puck drops at 7:00 pm EST. Enjoy the game.
