The ties that bind
Tuesday - March 28, 2006

There were a bunch of ties last night: Jagr tied Adam Graves' goal record; Jagr tied Jean Ratelle's single-season points record; Lundqvist tied the rookie goaltender wins record; the Rangers tied the Sabres and then beat them; the boys broke a tie with the Flyers for first place in the Atlantic; they moved within two points of tying the Sabres for third in the Eastern Conference; and Tom Renney found a tie to go with that awful coat he was wearing.

They didn't look great for much of the game, but when it counted Jagr stepped up. Oh, and guess what? The game had a playoff-like atmosphere, and they didn't fall short.

The only negative will be the psyche of Kevin Weekes, who did play poorly, but was once again the recipient of a nasty Garden welcome, even though he has played so well since the Olympic break. This team likes him, and the NEED him. I love having Henrik around, but a defeated Weekes doesn't help anyone.

Just going to link to the Ranger news quickly because I have things to do:

NY Post

NY Daily News

NY Newsday

The Journal News

NY Times

The Rodent has a bunch of things he wants to discuss.

Joe Mac at NYSportsDay

I'll come by later and tidy this up. I just want to say that last night was one hell of an exciting time at MSG.
