Medics Against Sucky Hockey

The list of Rangers heading to the operating room just keeps growing. Just when Al Montoya and Jaromir Jagr get wheeled out, Darius Kasparaitis is rolled in. They decided that he needed surgery on his injured groin after all.

What? What's that? His shoulder? We never heard anything about his shoulder??!!!?!?

Yes, that's right. Kaspar is being treated for a torn labrum, not his aching crotch. Just like the others, he is expected to be fully recovered come training camp.

While it is no excuse for the collapse at the end of the year, this team was in really bad shape physically. Rucchin and his ankle, Kaspar and his groin, Henrik and his hip, Rucinsky and his finger, Ozo and his flask, Jagr and his shoulder, Prucha and his knee, Ward and his MCL, Malik and his whatever . . .

Some of the Flyers are in equally bad shape. Peter Forsberg went for a second opinion on his potential ankle work, and now Simon Gagne will have surgery on his hip.

There was only one game last night, and it was a doozy for Anaheim's Joffrey Lupul. The 22-year-old forward scored all four of the Ducks' goals, including the OT winner. The victory put the Quackers up 3-0 over the Avalanche in their second round series.

The other three series resume tonight.

Go Canes!
