On the Brink
Thursday - May 11, 2006
Is it sour grapes? You betcha! But so what? I am rooting for the Canes to sweep New Jersey in the Meadowlands so that those Devil fans feel the same way I did. Carolina just keeps rolling as the Devs just can't find a way to stop them. Uncle Larry takes a well-deserved shot at Martin Brodeur and his unimpressive play thus far this series. The Hurricanes will try to end the series this Saturday. In the meantime, the Senators will try to avoid a sweep tonight, and they will have to do it without Dominic Hasek. It took the Edmonton Oilers an extra 42 and a half minutes of overtime to avoid becoming the third team to drop to 3 games to none. Shawn Horcoff scored in triple overtime to put the Oilers over the San Jose Sharks and cut the series lead to 2-1. Joffrey Lupul and the Mighty Ducks will try to end Colorado's playoff run tonight. For today's medical report, we have the news that Peter Forsberg might be out until January of 2007 due to surgery to repair ligaments in his ankles. His teammates Derrian Hatcher and Turner Stevenson had successful surgeries on their right knees. Toronto Maple Leaf Jeff O'Neill underwent shoulder surgery as well. The Hartford Wolf Pack are still alive, despite their mini-hiatus due to the circus being in town. They resume their 2nd round playoff series against Portland tonight. The series is tied 2-2. The Rangers signed Ryan Callaghan, their fourth round pick from the 2004 draft, to a professional contract. The official website has a little article on Marc Staal.
