Simon Says:
Sunday - December 16, 2007

For as long as I have know this game I have understood it's one basic rule. Hockey, played at almost every level is a game of intimidation. It's with that understanding that I formulated my style of play and my fondness for certain players. It's no secret that I have great respect for the tough guys of hockey. Either a teammate or a player in the NHL, it's the tough guys who make hockey what it is.

So with great sadness I withdraw my support for Chris Simon. His attempt to use his skate to make contact with the leg or foot of Jarkko Ruutu crosses all lines. Simon exhibited a total lack of respect for the game and it's players.

There has always been a clear difference to me in that hitting an opponent so hard it hurts is very much different than trying to hurt someone. I'll concede that a stick foul can muddy up that line a bit. But there is never nor has there ever been a reason to use your skate blade for anything other than skating.

Shame on you Chris. I hope they throw the book at ya.

Onto today's game. 5PM at MSG. Here's Jens game primer. Jen let's us know who's up and who's down.

Let's hope for a good showing as I don't really want to hear all the bitching that comes after a loss. I'll see ya later eh?
