Too Much Gaborik, Not Enough Strudwick
Thursday - December 20, 2007

When Jason dropped the gloves to stand up for Prucha I cheered. Why on earth didn't someone nail Burns? He was the guy who elbowed Petr earlier in the game. It's kinda the same thing I complained about in the podcast when no one got the guy who knocked Jagr's teeth out.

I'm not suggesting that the Rangers would have won if Burns was paid back. I'm not sure anyone was going to stop Gaborik tonight. Face it, it was one of those special nights for a special player. It's kinda hard to say this.....but it was awesome to watch that guy play.

I also want to take a not too popular position and agree with Joe from MSG when he mentioned that the Rangers took some bad penalties. Granted, the two blatant non-calls would drive anyone nuts. Drury was clearly cross checked and while I really don't know what he said to get the two....it wasn't a good move. The non-call against Burns still has me angry so I have to issue a pass for the bench minor on that one. Each time it seemed the Rangers could get back in it, they took a poorly timed penalty.

Perhaps they got screwed by the refs tonight......just as they benifited from some calls at home against the Pens the other night. I need to remind you that no team has ever beaten a ref.....it's a losing battle every time. Have you ever seen a ref stop and say, "you know....you're right. I change my call"? Nope....it never happens. I would like to see the look on the refs face when he looks at the elbow to Prucha and the cross check to Drury. I'm sure the league will mention it, not that it changes anything.

While a very disappointing game for the Blueshirts they'll need to leave it behind as they get on a plane to Denver for tomorrow night's game vs. the 'Lanche.

Damn....that guy is good, eh? Gaborik, I mean.

No beer for me.
