Rested Rangers Romp
Saturday - February 16, 2008
As the trade deadline approaches each team must decide if it's going to be a seller or a buyer.......and each game seemingly takes on a greater importance. It's with that in mind that the Rangers came off their five day rest onto MSG ice to take on the Sabres. The talk of playoffs and trades can be distracting to a player or a team.....but somehow the Rangers avoided distractions, at least for one afternoon. Sean Avery scored just ten seconds in and the Rangers never looked back. Four tallies in the first put this one away....5-1 is your final. A strong solid effort in the mold that the Rangers will need night after night to get in a playoff spot. While I'd love to spend some time giving out atta boys I'm still concerned about the man advantage. No goals today.....and they had chances. Funny how so much of their game was good and yet I'm looking at the only dark spot. Moving up to the seventh spot today doesn't make me feel good. Too many games in hand for some other clubs. That said, if the Rangers can play like today and go on a winning streak then I wouldn't be surprised to see Slats pull the trigger on a buy. A few consecutive losses could mean a sellers trade takes place. Folks, there's just no way to tell exactly what will happen. For now, enjoy the two points and get ready for tomorrow afternoon. With the GMs down here in Florida in a couple days I'll see what I can find out. I guess we'll all know soon enough.
