It's poetic justice that after the NY Rangers beat Les Habs coming back from a 0-3 score to win on Super Bowl Sunday that they come back tonight. But from an 0-5 score??????
Give the Canadians credit. I thought for sure they'd lay down after the five goal output by the Rangers....but they didn't. They mounted one of the great comebacks I've seen in the NHL. And that's not to say the Rangers laid down....they didn't. They got beat.
The crowd at the forum is as passionate as the one at MSG if not more so....I mean they did riot after a suspension to Maurice Richard back in '55. Throwing stuff on the ice is never cool.....but it does remind us that the refs are not always tilting the ice against the Blueshirts. Granted, crying each time a Canadian player fell was a bit how do you say.......um, gay? But the crowd eventually got what they wanted and Les Habs scored.
This game ended the regular season between these two teams....but I get the feeling we'll play them again before all is said and done. And I for one look forward to it.
Truth be told....I mentioned to the Rodent inbetween periods at the end of the first (up 3-0) that I was concerned as the Rangers at the time were trading scoring chances and it seemed to me that Les habs were going to get back in it. Damned if I wasn't right.
We get a point as did the Flyers who came back themselves to get a 2-2 score before the shoot-out loss. I'm a bit pissed at this point......not so much at the Rangers as I am the world at large. It's one of those karma things.........sometimes it bites you in the ass.......and tonight my ass hurts.
Kudos to Dubinsky who fought the kid from L.I. He lost the fight but scored huge points with me and I'm sure the rest of you. Too bad it went wasted on the outcome. It was not wasted in the Ranger's locker room I'm sure.
Sean Avery needs to stay on-sides if he hopes to be more than an agitaor. The guy can play fer sure....but I wonder sometimes.
Take the point and get some rest....we don't play again for a few days. Seems like a good time to record a podcast, eh?
A FIVE goal lead giving up beer me to all. I could use another beer after tonight's games.
