Rolling The Dice
Saturday - February 23, 2008
After a few (more) days off the NY Rangers get back to action tonight in Buffalo. I had watched a few of their recent games including a comeback against Tampa Bay. Down 0-2 they won the thing 3-2. Despite their off-season losses the Sabres can still beat you. The trade deadline coming up this Tuesday has been a big subject just as in past seasons. However, if you recall.....since the lockout we haven't had much in the way of massive trades. My guess is that this season will be more of the same. It's the damned cap. Teams can no longer dump salary like the old days. Even the "rent a player" deals become tougher under this system. Of course the minute I say this we'll see 900 trades......and Lord Perth's head will explode. A win tonight and tomorrow night makes a seller's trade by Slats less likely. Losses would have the opposite effect.....duh. So we are still in a wait and see mode. Personally, I just want to win games. So does Coach Renny - "I think we can win with what we have, honestly. I really do," Renney said. "I believe in these guys. If someone has a different opinion I'd listen to that, but if we did nothing I'd be completely fine with that. We'll still go after our playoff spot and have a good shot when we get there." One of my buddies over at Rangerland was at the Casino night and posted his story complete with pics. Well worth a visit. Redlight and I spent more than one night playing Texas Hold 'em online back in the day. I mentioned the Lightning......I have been informed that there will be a ticket for me to see the Bolts play the Rangers in Tampa Bay on the 16th of March. I'll drive the 265 miles for that fer sure. There's a pretty good chance that the game will have an impact on the playoff hunt and it just might be my last chance to see the team play live this season. Of course, I could be traded before then. We'll see ya after tonight's game......I hope. ----}- Bird Posted by Bird at February 23, 2008 11:02 AMeMail this entry! |
